Deon van den Berg
Design and Project Manager, Main Contractor
A collective experience of 26 years in Mechanical Engineering Project Management, Architectural Design, Management and development of Residential and Commercial Projects, both locally and Internationally.
Beginning in 1982 with Group 5 Projects, moving on to De Hart, Laubscher, Rabie Architects, Africa Associated Architects and then Keystone Architects. At this point in time Deon moved to Australia to Design and Manage the development of an International Brand of Health Clubs. The seven year sojourn into Australasia, under Keystone Architects, saw the design and construction, as well as maintenance of over 13 Health Clubs. With his involvement at Space Health Clubs, (Design and Project Manager, not associated with any South African Company) arguably three of the most innovatively designed Health Clubs were developed.
Back in South Africa since 2004, Deon started Design Factor, mainly as a Design service for other Consultants and Architects, but realised the need for a small dedicated team with a “hands-on” approach to the Design and Construction of small, medium and even large renovations, extensions and alterations. This “hands-on” approach and attention to detail has enabled Design Factor to successfully complete both difficult and delicate projects, from residential to commercial installations within a busy shopping centre.
Skills combine innovative concept planning with a vast construction and services design experience to deliver functional, cost effective and operationally successful designs and completed projects.
Maintaining strong collaborative relationships with external Architectural, Interior, Graphic and Landscape Consultants has allowed Deon to constantly challenge and expand the understanding and function of various Projects and Developments.
